Frequently asked questions

Short answers to the questions we get most, including what SNAQ can't do yet and what to try instead.

Logging meals

Why are my portion sizes off?

Unless you’re using Smart Estimate on an iPhone Pro, SNAQ starts from standard portion sizes. That covers Fast Add, other phones and photos from your library, so a big plate or a half portion will need adjusting before you save. A better photo helps too. See Tips for a better photo.

Can I add my own foods?

Yes. Add one under More, then Food, then Custom Foods, tap Add food when a search comes up empty, or scan a nutrition label. Create your own foods has the steps.

Try another spelling or a broader word. For a mixed dish, add the main ingredient first and the rest separately. Packaged foods are often faster to scan by barcode, and you can always make a custom food.

I forgot to log a meal

Log it now and change the time, or copy a similar meal from another day. See Edit, copy and reuse meals.

Can I set a meal as breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack?

Not by hand. SNAQ goes by the meal’s time and your ranges under More, then General, then Mealtimes. To move a meal, change its time or the ranges.

Devices and data

Which devices work with SNAQ?

Dexcom, FreeStyle Libre, Nightscout, Contour, Accu-Chek and OneTouch, plus any app that saves glucose to Apple Health or Health Connect. See Connect your glucose data.

Why is my glucose data missing or late?

Some devices send readings late: Dexcom by up to 3 hours, Libre by a few hours, and Nightscout by up to a day. If nothing is coming in at all, check More, then Health Data, then Glucose Data, and go through what else to check.

Does SNAQ calculate insulin doses?

No. US accounts can log and import insulin, but SNAQ doesn’t calculate or recommend doses. Insulin data is only for looking back at what happened, not for making treatment decisions.

How do I share my data with my doctor?

Email them a PDF report, or connect with their clinic through SNAQ Care. Share your data with your care team covers both.

What SNAQ doesn’t do yet

Here’s what people ask for most that SNAQ doesn’t have yet, and what to do in the meantime. If something here matters to you, vote for it or request it on our feature board.

FeatureWhat to do instead

Meal or logging remindersNot yet, but a home screen widget makes logging quicker.
Google FitUse Health Connect instead.
Apple Watch appThere’s no watch app, but you can add home screen widgets (More › Widgets).
Weight loss or gain plansNutrition Goals are set to keep your weight steady for now. You can enter your own calorie target instead.
Changing your email or diabetes type in the appEmail support@snaq.io to change your email. Your diabetes type can’t be changed.

Subscription and billing

I only wanted to try SNAQ. Why was I charged?

Free trials from the App Store and Google Play turn into a paid subscription automatically after 7 days, unless you cancel first. Deleting the app doesn’t cancel it. To stop future charges, cancel through the store you subscribed with, and if you’d like your money back, ask that store for a refund. Your subscription has the links for both.
